For this post, my class attended an elementary art exhibit in a our local memorial auditorium. We were asked to find three projects that really caught our eye. The first project I felt immediately drawn to is the one on the left. It appeared to me that the student took a piece of yarn and glued it into a random design. From there, there left the inner space white, but made the outer space from the yarn into a colorful design. There are a few things I can see being taught through this lesson. First, positive and negative space. As the students left what was inside the yarn to be the white of the paper, it made that space appear bold and helped the yarn design to stand out. I can also see this being a lesson on color, line, and/or pattern. |
The next assignment that really caught my eye were the weaving's to the right. When I was in elementary school, I honestly don't remember ever doing a weaving project. Especially one like this. This project was really neat to me because they used all sorts of different materials. One of the weaves even used plastic sacks!!! For this, the rather obvious assignment is weaving, but maybe through the usage of found objects? |
For the last project, I really liked both the colorful circles and the flower vases. Both projects were so vibrant and unique that I ended up being really impressed by them. The vases seemed to use some sort of colored tissue paper. It looked as if they had maybe dripped some ink on them while damp or something of the like. They also used market caps for the vase structure, which I thought was an interesting idea. The other project appeared to be another form of the weaving again, but I really
